We have officially started our adventure south, and the kids have dubbed it Operation Sunshine. Wandering down the west coast of the USA is our main plan of action, with a final destination (we think!) somewhere on the Baja. We haven’t been there since the winter of 2012/13 with our rooftop tents.
As it always goes with our plans, they have changed! We are not just Everette and I with the youngest 5 kids. We have Mitchell along, at least for the beginning of Operation Sunshine.
Our first official destination is Portland where we will celebrate our 2nd granddaughter’s 3rd birthday on Hallowe’en. No, she wasn’t born on Hallowe’en, but that’s when her party is going to be. So we’ll be there.
Mitchell, like the rest of the family, has never seen the west coast of the Olympic Peninsula and so he caught a ride with us. Planning to catch the train from Portland north to Vancouver and back to work sometime after the niece’s birthday party.
But you know, the train travels from places farther south than Portland! And so now he’s considering possibly doing the Oregon coast and some of California with us. After our time with family in the city.
Oh, the adventures of living life on the whim, and taking advantage of serendipitous opportunities. Good thing Mitchell works for an understanding and flexible boss (he works for us!!) and that we have long enough benches for sleeping on.
There’s still a vacant couch!! Anyone?
