Unnerving. Lightning storm at sea for an inexperienced sole like me, on a fairly unfamiliar boat. Lets say I was nervous.
Your mother likely told you not to be around water when there’s a lightning storm. And don’t be the tallest thing around. And you never stick poles out trying to attract a bolt of lightning.
Be on a boat out on the water with all those masts and poles reaching into the sky…and then watch this unfold around you.
I admit to being nervous…when I thought about it. But for the most part I stood on deck, a warm wind blowing with a soft misty rain covering me. The crackling and bolts were near constant, like nothing I’d ever experienced before.
It was exhilarating. Magical.
