We eventually made it to our destination after a mishap with using GPS. Lake Isabella, as seen from the distance in the photo below (viewed from “the wrong” road!)
We love to camp near water of some sort (preferably clean!!) and mountains somewhere in the mix often makes it stunning. Along Lake Isabella (North Fork @ Sequoia National Forest…free camping) you are exposed, and the winds can pick up but it was quite pleasant when we were there. Nights are cold and days are decently warm for this time of the year (autumn). It was a great time to take it easy for a few days of downtime.
Football, weiner roasts, and viewing constellations was about the extent of our exertion. Great family time to connect.
