We had 5 wonderful days on S/V Sea Fern at Bahia Los Frailes, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. By the time we left there we had other sailors to head out with towards Los Muertos and onwards to approach La Paz by sail for our very first time.
Everette and I’ve always liked La Paz. When we were on land we would camp out at Playa Tecolate (about a 10 min drive from the city) with its white sand dunes and turquoise waters. On the way out to Tecolate we always admired the sailboats anchored in the quiet and picturesque Bellandra Bay. And this time, we came by sea.
We spent one night at Bellandra, where the dolphins and seals frolicked around and under out boat. The sunset was stunning, the company perfect. It was magical here. So much peace.
In the morning we set out on the slow, long approach down the channel to the capital of Baja California Sur, the pleasant city of La Paz.
After a few days in La Paz doing laundry, booking flights, and buying a motor for the tender/dinghy, it was time for Anders and I to head back to Chapala. It was sad to leave the guys on the boat. But I felt I had been away from the rest of the kids long enough.
It had been a wonderful adventure. A special time with the guys. A time for me to have a new experience. Now I know there’s a possibility that our whole family could do this sailing thing.
PS. Here’s some random videos Everette and I made about what we’ve seen/experienced so far on this adventure.
