Imagine if a summer road trip with your family wasn’t dreadful. Perhaps it could actually be fun, economical and relatively stress free?
The first time we traveled across Canada in 2007 with our youngest 7 we did a whole lot of it wrong. The cost was high and the days were often excruciatingly long. There was little structure! No cohesive plan. We left the west coast “flying” by the seat of our pants. It was a miracle anybody was still talking to each other by the time we got our family to our destination on the east coast.
When we did it again two years later we approached it completely different. We packed more creatively and efficiently. We had a route chosen, arranged places to stay at, and had more variety to break up our days and keep relationships smoother. Of course we couldn’t change the fact that it was a l.o.n.g drive across Canada again, but it was so much easier when we took the time to get ourselves better organized and planned out. We could do this AND enjoy ourselves!! Now we do it almost second nature.
